Differences & Divergences

Every logged difference between the biblical canon and the texts read alongside it — with primary sources on both sides wherever the law allows, and documented facts with citations where it doesn't. The same instruments are turned on the Bible itself. Compared, not endorsed · Measured, not judged.

Quick glossary: NWT = New World Translation (the Jehovah's Witnesses' Bible) · JST = Joseph Smith Translation · DSS = Dead Sea Scrolls · LXX = Septuagint, the Greek Old Testament (3rd–2nd c. BC) · MT = Masoretic Text, the traditional Hebrew Bible · naskh = the classical Islamic doctrine of abrogation (which Qur'anic ruling supersedes which) · taḥrīf = the Islamic claim that earlier scriptures were altered. In the manuscript section, "witness" is the scholars' word for an ancient copy that testifies to the text — nothing to do with Jehovah's Witnesses.

Method: identical instruments on every corpus, including the canon itself — that symmetry is the whole point. Copyrighted texts (e.g. the New World Translation) are never reproduced: divergences are stated as facts with minimal quotation inside scholarly commentary, per fair use. Ancient manuscripts are public domain and quoted freely. Sources cited on every entry; where scholars harmonize a tension, the harmonization is stated with attribution and the reader weighs it.
